2. Products and Availability

We offer a selection of Portuguese and Irish delicatessen products, including artisan cheeses, cured meats, preserves, honey, olive oil, tinned fish, baked goods and other specialty foods.

We aim to ensure that all product descriptions, photographs and prices are accurate. However:

  • Product photographs are for illustrative purposes. Actual packaging, presentation or appearance may vary.

  • Artisan and handmade products may naturally vary in size, colour, texture and appearance.

  • Product availability may change due to seasonal production, supplier availability or other circumstances.

  • We reserve the right to update product descriptions, prices and availability.

If a product becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you to discuss an appropriate alternative or arrange a refund for the unavailable item.

We will not substitute a product without your agreement.

3. Prices and Payment

All prices are displayed in euros (€) and include VAT where applicable.

Delivery charges and any other applicable fees will be displayed before you complete your purchase.

Payment must be made through the payment methods available at checkout. Payments are processed securely through our designated payment provider.

By submitting an order, you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method selected.

Salt & Stories reserves the right to correct pricing errors. If an error affects an order you have placed, we will contact you before proceeding.

4. Orders and Order Confirmation

When you place an order through our website, you are submitting a request to purchase the selected products.

You will receive an order confirmation by email. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of your order but does not necessarily mean that the order has been dispatched.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where there is a legitimate reason, including product unavailability, suspected fraudulent activity or an obvious pricing error.

If payment has already been taken for an order that we cancel, you will receive a refund for the amount paid.

Please check your order details carefully before completing your purchase.

5. Delivery and Collection

Delivery options, estimated delivery times, applicable charges and collection arrangements will be displayed on our website or communicated during the ordering process.

Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by circumstances outside our control, including courier delays, weather conditions and supplier issues.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.

For orders containing chilled, frozen or otherwise temperature-sensitive products, customers must follow any delivery, collection and storage instructions provided.

Where local collection is offered, the collection arrangements and any applicable collection times will be communicated at the time of ordering.

If an order cannot be fulfilled, we will contact you to arrange an appropriate solution.

6. Fresh, Chilled and Perishable Products

Some of our products are fresh, chilled or perishable and require particular care.

Customers must follow the storage instructions, use-by dates and other product information supplied with their purchases.

Once a perishable product has been delivered or collected, customers are responsible for storing it appropriately.

If a product arrives damaged, spoiled, unsafe or otherwise not as described, please contact us as soon as possible, providing your order number and photographs where appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits your statutory rights in relation to faulty, unsafe or misdescribed goods.

7. Cancellations, Returns and Refunds

We want every Salt & Stories customer to be happy with their purchase.

Online orders

Under Irish and EU consumer law, most online purchases are subject to a 14-day cancellation period, subject to applicable exceptions.

Certain products are exempt from this right, including:

  • Goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly, such as certain fresh foods.

  • Sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons, where they have been unsealed after delivery.

  • Other goods or services that fall within a statutory exception.

Where a statutory cancellation right applies, we will provide the required information and process eligible refunds in accordance with applicable law.

Damaged, faulty or incorrect products

If you receive a product that is damaged, faulty, unsafe or different from what you ordered, please contact us at [Insert your business email address].

Please include your order number, a description of the issue and supporting photographs where possible.

Depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights, you may be entitled to a replacement, repair, price reduction or refund.

Refund processing

Approved refunds will normally be made using the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed or required by law.

We will comply with the applicable statutory deadlines for refunds.

Our returns policy does not affect any rights you have under Irish or EU consumer protection legislation.

8. Food Allergies and Dietary Requirements

At Salt & Stories, food quality and customer safety are important to us.

We provide food information and allergen details where required. Customers should carefully review the product descriptions, ingredient lists and allergen information before purchasing.

Our products may contain or come into contact with allergens during production, preparation, handling or storage.

If you have a food allergy, intolerance or specific dietary requirement, please contact us before placing your order so that we can clarify the information available for the relevant product.

We cannot guarantee that a product is free from a particular allergen unless this has been specifically confirmed.

Allergen information provided on our website is intended to help customers make informed choices. It does not replace mandatory food labelling or other food safety information supplied with the product.

9. Product Storage and Food Safety

Customers are responsible for following the storage, preparation and consumption instructions provided with their products.

This includes keeping chilled products refrigerated, observing use-by dates and following any instructions provided by the manufacturer or supplier.

Salt & Stories cannot accept responsibility for deterioration resulting from improper storage or handling after delivery or collection, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Please do not consume any product that appears unsafe or has been stored contrary to its instructions. Contact us if you have concerns about a product purchased from us.

10. Gift Vouchers and Special Orders

Where gift vouchers, hampers, personalised orders or special orders are available, the applicable terms, prices and conditions will be communicated at the time of purchase.

Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

Any expiry dates or restrictions applicable to gift vouchers will be clearly communicated before purchase and will comply with applicable Irish law.

Special orders and customised products may be subject to specific ordering, payment, collection or cancellation arrangements. Any such arrangements will be communicated before the order is confirmed.

11. Promotions and Discounts

From time to time, Salt & Stories may offer promotions, discounts or special offers.

Unless otherwise stated, promotions cannot be combined with other offers and are subject to product availability.

We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion where permitted by law. Any changes will not affect orders already accepted.

Specific promotional terms will apply where they have been communicated to customers.

14. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under Irish or EU law.

We are not responsible for losses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, provided that this does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

We are not liable for losses resulting from a customer's failure to follow product storage, handling or usage instructions, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

15. Privacy and Personal Information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Personal information may be used to process orders, arrange delivery or collection, provide customer support and meet our legal obligations.
